Slated- Book Review

Hello Everyone!
So today I have another book review which I have finally found time to actually finish it.

This book is called Slated by the author Terri Terry- This book is the first of three books which I have to admit isn't something I would normally read as I stick to Contemporary books so this was really out of my comfort zone, This was about a girl who had been 'Slated' she basically had her memory erased but she was having dreams and flashbacks of her life before she was slated, The concept of this book is if anyone does anything wrong or doesn't obey rules they get slated and start fresh- The government claimed they were getting a second chance in life which I found it quite an interesting thing so I think that is what intrigued me.
This book was following a girl named 'Kayla' who after been slated didn't know how to clean dishes and stuff like that which again I found interesting as Kayla could still remember how to drive and things like that- Kayla was a character I really got a connection with for some reason in this book, She was a character which didn't get on your nerves as you kind of agreed with what she was doing. This book was a roller-coaster for me as like I said this isn't the sort of book I normally reach for but I did enjoy the story line and the characters throughout. Towards the end of the book a twist happens which I honestly did not see coming which I'm quite looking forward to the second book for this reason but I really did get hooked in with the story and wanted to see what happened next, I thought in some ways the book was a little slow but then it picked up which was always a good thing- As I said there are 3 books in the series and I am really looking forward to carrying on with this story to see what happens. Kayla was a character who would ask questions which as a reader you wanted to know, In the story if you have been slated your not supposed to ask too many questions otherwise it's classed as suspicious but the things Kayla was doing or asking I thought I would of done the same as it just was so intrigued to see what had happened to certain characters.
I really did enjoy this book although it took me quite a while to finish but it was also quite a chunky book which can be my excuse but I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys dystopian stories or is wanting something out of their comfort zone this will definitely keep you hooked.
