You're The One That I Want - Book Review

I'm back with another book review and this one was definitely one of my favourite reads of 2020.

Giovanna Fletcher is slowly becoming one of those authors I will just automatically buy as every book I'm reading by her they are becoming my favourite books. I had this one on my shelf for a while and I was just never intrigued enough to pick it up - How wrong was I?! First off this cover is absolutely stunning and I have to say I do prefer Gi's older style books with these covers as I just think they are stunning and look beautiful on the shelf. This story follows a girl called Maddy and her two childhood best friends Rob and Ben which this book follows their lives from childhood all the way up to when they are adults with their own families and honestly I think thats one reason I adored this book so much. Paige Toon's Five Years From Now is by far my all time favourite book currently and I feel like this book was slightly similar which may be why I loved it so much.

As I said this book follows their friendship throughout childhood into their teens and then into their adult life and of course both Rob and Ben do have feelings for Maddy and I have to say even I was torn to who she should be with. Maddy was such a likeable character you couldn't help but fall in love with her and just want the best for her and I have to admit I did relate to her in certain aspects. I can't even say I disliked Rob or Ben as I adored them both in this book which made the choice of "who was best for Maddy" quite hard and I was so invested in this story. I just loved being with them throughout their childhood into their uni days and then onto adult life I just found it so comforting following them throughout their lives and seeing them grow up I was so surprised how much I loved the book. I have to admit the synopsis of this book doesn't give much away which is why I may of not been so interested in the book until I picked it up but once I had finished the book I was on such a high and just loved how it ended.

By far one of my top reads of 2020 and would highly recommend this book if your a fan of Paige Toon or just love this genre of books - Definitely glad I picked this up!
